Poem Emulation (Caged Bird)

A tree grows
On the rich moist soil
And is adored by everyone
Till the sun sets
And its roots soak the water in the ground
In the orange sun rays
And dares to reach the sky

But a leafless tree stands by
concealed by its shadow
Can seldom see through
Its roots clinch of rage
Its leafs s are clipped and
Its twigs are frail so it opens its roots to drink

The delicate tree drinks
With a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
And story is heard
on the distant blocks
for hesitated tree
drinks to flourish

Freedom and Conflict

11/14/2017

Positive impacts and contributions that freedom has is it allows us to have the right to whatever we want when it came to actions and speech. Negative would be that actions of freedoms would have to be chosen whether they are constitutional. Positive and contributions that conflict has is to be able to solve and compromise on and ideas. Negative would be that the conflicts could be catastrophic and can end up with war. Freedom and Conflict interrelate to one another with freedom resulting into conflict with the idea that if we gave to much freedom, it can result into conflict, anarchy. They would definitely be opposites with freedom being a positive thing and conflict a negative thing but that can be controversial since both ideas depend on the situation.

"This year when it comes of reaching my academic goals this year would be pretty close since one of my goals this year was to get a mile under seven minutes and my  fastest so far is 7: 15 so all i need to do is push my self a little more to reach my goal since the beginning of the year. Another would be too read more but that hasn't happened since our last reading log. Participation is class is like a three based on our weekly participation which is defined " I spoke up once a week and I'm  trying to contribute more to the depth of the conversation." Strengths i have in this class would be that i have a pretty loud which is good when it comes to presentations but when i actually present for some reason I tend to stutter.  Other weaknesses would be i don't seem to raise or participate when it comes to seminar. The things that is challenging in this class would be for me to participate in any conversations since i have such a low vocabulary i don't really understand the directions, conversation, etc. What i would like to improve this year would be to work on reading since i need to improve on my vobalury.

  • F- FACT- One fact about " The Crucible" is that it was written by Arthur Miller on 1952

I- INTERNAL CONNECTION- While reading both reading and learning about " The Crucible " is that Arthur Miller did a excellent job on explaining the idea of the Salem Witch trials and how scapegoating can go in society

N- NEW IDEA- A new idea that I learned while reading " The Crucible" is that lies can cause chaos

D- DECISION- A personal decision that I will make based on my reading and understanding of " The Crucible" is I'm gonna look out on my surrounding and look out for rumors until they end up causing chaos.

Growth Mindset

The Growth mindset theory, created by psychologist Carol Dweck, is an idea where people in our society will either have a fixed mindset in which they would give up on goals easily or they have a growth mindset where they would persist on the goal even when it is challenging. In a growth mindset , there are PATTERNS that CONTRIBUTE to this world in a positive way. A person with a fixed mindset has certain characteristics and PATTERNS that are explained by an article named Growth v. Fixed Mindset. The author states that a person with a growth mindset thinks that intelligence can be developed through the characteristic of certain patterns which result such as desire to improve, embrace challenges, and persistence in difficulty. Furthermore, the author continues the list that people with a growth mindset see effort as the path to mastery, learn from criticism, find lessons and inspiration in the success of others. As a result, they reach even higher levels of achievement. In conclusion, we have people in our society with a growth mindset contributing to our world in a positive way and setting humans forward.

Our artifact was that each of the four people with a growth mindset would have four backdrops in which each would represent each based on each person background. So for example Bethany Hamilton is a pro surfer who got in a shark attack and unfortunately lost her arm. So her backdrop was a wave where there was a surfer riding the waves representing that even after Bethany losing a limb, she still kept on surfing professionally. For Thomas Edison was the light bulb which was on of thousands of inventions. The light bulb represented one the light bulb in which it revolusionized how we see the world. Before the lightbulb people had to rely on light candles and torches but with the light bulb it absolutely change the world and now there is light everywhere. For J.K rowling we were gonna make a reference to one of her famous book series Harry Potter where the backdrop would be to of the wands colliding where one of the wand would be represented by the rich wizards and the other the poor. The rich thought they were given certain things for instance the wand they would think I’m already a wizard where the poor would have to work hard to become a wizard. Finally the backdrop for Lebron James was a basketball left on a basketball court. This would represent that lebron tried out for the varsity team but was rejected in highschool but that didn’t stop him from believing that he could become the next greatest basketball player of all time and that’s what he did with dedication and hard work. We chose to have the gate icon as patterns and comparative as contributions because of the fact that these people have a growth mindset where there are patterns in the mindset and with them not giving up and instead work and put dedication into their work, they became and inspiration to other people and as well contributing to this world. So what we are basically trying to conclude is that to be a growth mindset where you would embrace challenges, you would not give up, and you would persist in any goal because at the end it will pay off.
